Creative Concept: Mao Zedong is indeed a towering mountain, his enormous shoulders bear the historical responsibility of national liberation. The creator, the president of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, stated: the young Mao Zedong's bust is designed to resemble a natural mountain. The form of the bust transforms into a rising peak, the earth's plates jutting out, rocks crumbling, waves crashing against the shore, chiseled by knife and axe, with grandeur and magnificence, as if the great rivers and streams merge into Mao Zedong's heart. The sculpture forms a resolute and dynamic twist of Mao Zedong's head, neck, and chest, expressing his steadfast character. The poem "Qinyuanchun·Changsha" written by Mao Zedong in 1925 at the head of Orange Isle is engraved on the back of the mountain, in his own cursive script, flying dragons and running phoenixes, surging and rushing, merging with the mountain shape, as if inscribed on the magnificent poetry of the motherland's mountains and rivers. The purpose is to further highlight the relationship between the great poem and Orange Isle.
To commemorate the great man's demeanor and inherit the revolutionary spirit, the Changsha Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Changsha Municipal People's Government, approved by the General Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, established the Youth Mao Zedong Art Statue at the head of Orange Isle in Changsha, Hunan. The statue was created and designed by Professor Li Ming, president of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, and was supervised throughout by the China Sculpture Society. The sculpture is a reinforced concrete frame structure, with a main and secondary steel structure outside the cylinder, and 7226 pieces of Yongding red granite attached. The total height is 32 meters, length 83 meters, width 41 meters, making it the largest youth Mao Zedong art sculpture in China.
